Right form the start, Anna enjoyed learning foreign languages and studied English, French, Latin, and Spanish through high school. She’d intended to become a primary school teacher, but a summer in England after earning her Abitur (German high school diploma) changed her mind when, thanks to her language skills, Anna was able to communicate with people from around the world in their mother tongues and form lasting friendships. That summer, she experienced the immense power of language fluency and recognized that her passion for languages was stronger than her interest in teaching.
With a clear goal of working in the language industry, Anna focused on English and Spanish and earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Communication and Translation from the University of Hildesheim, and a Masters of Arts in Translation from the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz’s Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies (FTSK) in Germersheim.
After completing her M.A., Anna moved to the greater Hamburg area and joined a language service provider agency where she project-managed translation projects for clients in the advertising and marketing sector.
“At Leinhäuser, I get to balance project management with linguistic work, and collaborate with colleagues who embody a spirit of collegiality.”
Anna joined Leinhäuser Language Services in June 2022, and initially managed financial reporting projects for clients in the industrial and manufacturing sectors. Anna’s responsibilities then expanded to include translating English into German and editing/proofreading for a wider range of clients and projects. Recently, Anna has also begun to serve as an embedded member of a client’s in-house language team.
Anna works remotely from her home in Germany’s northern-most state and, when not tending to clients, enjoys taking long walks through the woods surrounding her town with her young rescue dog, Ruby, and experimenting in the kitchen with recipes for vegetarian meals and decadent desserts.
