Robert Schweibold

Robert’s career path proves that it’s never too late to turn language into a profession. After years of pursuing technical studies and mechanical engineering, he realized that he didn’t want to delve that deeply into technology after all. So, at 20 years old, he switched gears and started learning Spanish. He went on to obtain a Diplom-Fachübersetzer (FH) from Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, becoming a qualified specialist translator for English and Spanish.

Robert has worked in Germany and Spain as a web programmer, teacher of English, German, and Spanish, and freelance translator. Remarking on his changed life path, Robert notes, “I used to think of myself as a technician who enjoyed literature and learning foreign languages. I wound up a linguist who doesn’t even change my own car’s oil!”

Attracted by Leinhäuser’s unbureaucratic can-do spirit and appreciation for linguists with broad skill sets, Robert joined the company in 2014. Initially, he concentrated on account management and English-German-Spanish translations for clients in the mechanical engineering and telecommunications sectors. Since 2018, Robert has also been supporting clients in the apps and gaming industry with translations, subtitles, and copywriting.

Robert works from his home office in Bad Kissingen, the northern Bavarian gateway to the Rhön mountain range. When not working, Robert enjoys spending time with his three children, riding his road bike and walking around the nearby UNESCO Rhön Biosphere Reserve, and, when vacation time allows, cycling in Spain.
