After completing high school, René bought a one-way ticket to Spain. The fact that he didn’t speak a word of Spanish was no obstacle. With his natural linguistic talents and a paperback dictionary, he picked up the language while touring the country and living in Barcelona.
Having decided to pursue a career in professional translation, René returned to Germany and studied at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz’s Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies (FTSK) in Germersheim, where he earned a Diplom Übersetzer in German, Spanish, and English translation. He then focused on project and process management, and learned about language technologies (subtitling software and CAT tools, such as Trados), at industry workshops and via his own research.
René then joined a small international online marketing agency’s localization department, where he focused on application and IT project management, and led the implementation of translation management systems and language management programs. Then, he served as an account manager and process manager for five years at a translation agency that specialized in marketing materials.
A creative and strategic thinker with a passion for technology and optimization.
René joined Leinhäuser Language Services in early 2022, after learning of the agency’s deep commitment to continually strengthening processes and technologies to improve products for clients. At Leinhäuser, René has been leading projects to optimize processes and process ownership, and increase efficiencies across account management via process management technologies.
When not at work, René enjoys fantasy books, role-playing games, and spending time with his son, daughter, and wife, who hails from Athens. While languages came easily to René, he does have one linguistic Achilles Heel: Greek. Even after taking intensive courses, he understands only a little of the language. Yes, the language itself is “all Greek” to René.
