What is the UN Global Compact?

The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest initiative for sustainable and responsible corporate governance. It calls on companies and organizations to align their strategies and operations with ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption. The goal is to actively support the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to promote a more inclusive and fair global economy. More than 26,000 companies and organizations around the world have already joined the UN Global Compact. In Germany, the UN Global Compact Network Germany (UN GCD) brings together signatories ranging from major DAX-listed corporations to medium-sized companies and SMEs, as well as representatives from civil society, academia and the public sector. The network offers practical learning and dialogue formats in the areas of Social, Environment, Governance, Reporting & Finance, and SDGs. This helps companies to strategically anchor sustainability within their core business.
