When Fiona started learning English in primary school in Lyon, France, it seemed to her that “speaking another language was like discovering a new world.” From that moment on, she was hooked on foreign languages and went on to expand her language repertoire by studying German, Spanish, and, to please her Italian immigrant maternal grandparents, Italian.
Fiona was a diligent student, but she’s convinced it’s her broken DVD player that enabled her to master English at a young age; the language-selection button was broken so she could watch British and US-American films and TV shows only in the original English without French subtitles.
Fiona earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Applied Foreign Languages and in Trilingual Communication and Translation, along with a Masters of Arts in Specialized Translation and Liaison Interpretation from ESTRI, School for International Careers. While pursuing her B.A., she worked as a freelance English-German-French translator for a small language service provider.
As part of her M.A. program, Fiona interned with Leinhäuser in Unterhaching for a year and, in September 2023, joined the company as a junior account manager. Fiona leads the preprocessing team, whose work streamlines translation timelines. She also supports cloud technology, energy, marketing, product marketing, and public relations client accounts. And, no surprise, Fiona is a member of the French language team.
“I love what I do — always learning new things and problem-solving for colleagues and clients!”
As most people are hitting their alarm clock snooze bars, Fiona is logging in to her laptop in Leinhäuser’s Unterhaching offices, fueled by her passion for her work … and caffeine; all of the Red Bull cans in the office’s recycling bin are hers! Fiona relaxes by recreating and reimagining classic Gallic desserts she learned from her French grandmother. Happy colleagues always look forward to finding the creative fruits of her labor in the break room.
